- Nihonbashi: Daimyo Procession Setting Out/ 日本橋行列振出 (Nihonbashi, gyoretsu furidashi)
- Creator
- Utagawa Hiroshige/ 歌川広重 (Signature: Hiroshige ga/ 広重画)
- Description
- Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. A scene of the beginning of the road at Nihonbashi. Coming across the bridge is the front of a daimyo procession, the street ahead in the foreground is filled with townspeople. On either side buildings and fences box in the composition and create a tight, busy scene. This print is the second of two existing versions that includes more people in the foreground and an altered subtitle. The original title was ‘morning scene’ but this title makes direct reference to the daimyo’s procession present in both versions. This second version was only published by Hoeido.
