Along the right side of the image teahouses and restaurants busy with patrons and decorated with red lanterns line the riverbank.

The luggage carried by the porters is likely for a shrine or festival based on the decorative umbrellas and streamers used in Shintoism. On either side of the bridge are the roofs of the villages houses, in the background is a group of willow tress on a small green hill along the stream.

- Nishiki-e (Multicolored print), ink and color on paper. The print depicts the Ichikoku bridge in Edo. Four or five citizens populate the bridge. Behind it are the city walls and other bridges crisscossing the river. The city fades into a hazy mist that leads up to Mt. Fuji in the upper left of the print. Fuji is balanced out by a willow tree on the right peeking into frame in the extreme foreground. Fukibokashi ink laying technique is used to create gradients in the sky and water. Site located in Yaesu, Chuo, Tokyo.

- Nishiki-e (Mutlicolored Print), ink and color on paper. The final scene in the series, depicting the great Sanjo bridge that leads into Kyoto. Men and women cross the bridge in groups. Mist obscures the city in the background, just beyond it are mountains and forests highlighted by pockets of pink cherry blossoms. In the earlier states of the print the cloud of mist is inked in light pinks and yellows. In the archives print this mist is a red-pink gradient.

- Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Travelers and locals cross the great Sanjo bridge that marks the entrance to Kyoto and the end of the Tokaido road. Two of the women are Kyoto women selling goods called Oharame because they come from the nearby town of Ohara. Also, on the bridge are wealthy upper-class women wearing veils called Katsugi. Across the water villas and temples on the edge of the city can be seen amongst the forested hills.

Rising over the whole seen in the grey silhouette of a nearby mountain.

Crossing the bridge is a samurai on horseback and a few merchants carrying goods. Bellow the bridge small boats and rustic rafts navigate the river. Beyond the castle on the far shore are the dark silhouette of a nearby mountain range.

- Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. The titular bridges cross the water diagonally along the bottom of the image. Just above is the building lined shores of the river and a band of purple mist or clouds hanging right above it. On the left side the tops of a castle can be seen peeking out from a grove of trees. In the background a silhouettes mountain ranged slightly obscures the bright red rising sun that is central in the image. Above the rays of the sun three black birds (possibly crows) fly overhead mirror the Three great bridges bellow. This print features Rising Sun imagery. While it predates World War II and the Japanese Empire, the Rising Sun is a central piece of Japanese facist Iconograghy.

Traveling along the center is the uniform procession of a daimyo, his retainers dressed in bright orange, green, and yellow. Along the sides of the bridge townspeople bow to the passing procession. Just beyond the peak of the bridge the roofs of nearby buildings can be seen. Farther into the background is a fire tower standing above the roof like and the silhouette of a distant temple pagoda.
