Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. A street lined on the left side with businesses and private homes hidden behind fences. The two stores depicted are selling stenciled fabric which the neighboring village Arimatsu was famous for. Two groups of other travelers come down the road. Farther back, two men walk alongside a packhorse carrying a woman. In front, a group of porters carries a woman in an open palanquin.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. A scene of the beginning of the road at Nihonbashi. Coming across the bridge is the front of a daimyo procession, the street ahead in the foreground is filled with townspeople. On either side buildings and fences box in the composition and create a tight, busy scene. This print is the second of two existing versions that includes more people in the foreground and an altered subtitle. The original title was ‘morning scene’ but this title makes direct reference to the daimyo’s procession present in both versions. This second version was only published by Hoeido.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Once again we see the nihonbashi now in the first version of the print that was published by both Hoeido and Senkakudo. Fewer people passing on the street in front of the bridge. The head of the daimyo procession can still be seen crossing the bridge.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. A mountain path passes across the foreground and ascends steeply up the right side of the composition. Pine trees line the path, and some travelers stop to view a large boulder on the road. The rock is said to commemorate the murder of a woman whose ghost led the authorities to her murderer.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. The full moon rises large in the center of the print, slightly obscured by the tall thin trees lining the path along the river. On the opposite bank is a grove of trees slightly faded in the mist. In the distance, a village is built on the river, with trestle bridges connecting its many banks. In the foreground, three travelers walk the riverside path; one of them has a large Tengu mask strapped to his back. The Tengu is a spirit in Japanese folklore that lives in the deep mountain forests and possesses great power; humans sometimes seek out the Tengu to learn magic from them.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. A litter of travelers crosses the Sakawa river, some with the help of porters and others in palanquins. In the distance are vast rice and marshes leading back to a mountain range. At the base of the mountains are a set of stone walls and gates can be seen. This is the first version; there are only two figures on the nearby bank
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. A litter of travelers cross the Sakawa river, some with the help of porters and others in palanquin. In the distance are vast rice fields and marshes leading back to a mountain range. In the base of the mountains are a set of stone walls and gates can be seen. This is the third version of this print; it differs from the first two states by the inclusion of five figures on the near bank and pointed mountain tops rather than rounded.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. The right half of the composition is taken up by a village of steep-roofed houses. Travelers walk down the path running through it in the rain. To the left is an open slope leading down to the shore, the open water seen in the mid-distance.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Water rushes down the center of two steep hillsides. Travelers walk along the path on the left of the torrent. Down the road, the roofs of buildings indicate an upcoming village. The two hillsides are topped with pines and other trees.

Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Two wrestlers cross the stream with the help of a group of porters. To the left side of the stream is a large rock formation with pine trees growing from it. On the right side of the composition, misty marshes lead out to the water, where ships have their sails unfurled.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Three ox-drawn carts descend the hill from the right side down toward the tea house. One of the carts is carrying rice, and the other two are carrying charcoal. Guests are resting at the tea house, and an attendant cleans the fountain outside the building. In the distance is the silhouette of a round sloped hill. The archive print is the first version of two that exist. This version includes the background hill; it is not present in the second version.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. A teahouse with guests sits on the precipice of a cliff on the far right. Slight to the left another traveler approaches with a cow and child. Two of the tea house guests look out over the gorge at a group of mountains covered in trees and waterfalls.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. In the courtyard of an inn where a daimyo has stopped to rest, he is seated on a porch to the far left and is surrounded by his servants and retainers. Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Along the right side is a road lined with shops and busy with travelers and porters. The daimyo procession is still present and headed to a place out of frame. On the left side is the harbor filled with sailing ships carrying cargo. The clouds in the sky are rendred in gradients and they create a sense of the depth in the scene. This is the first version of two that exist of this print and it was published by Hoeido and Senkakudo.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. In the foreground, two hills on either side of the composition slope down to the center. In the dip, the sailing boats on the water can be seen, along with huts and drying fishing nets along the shore. Just behind the right hillside is the Daimyo’s procession descending the path and heading to the left.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Travelers fight against heavy rain as they walk up and down the steep slope in the foreground. They hide under straw hats, cloaks and umbrellas. On the umbrella of the figure near the bottom right, you can faintly see the name of the print series publisher. Below the hill in the bottom right corner are the roofs of a nearby village. The rain is finely rendered with a subtle layer of ink. In the distance, the gray silhouettes of the bamboo bend under the force of the winds.
