Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Geese descend down to the marshy land of Haneda. At the center of the composition in a tree filled grove a shrine is marked by the torii gate at the end of the grassy path. Two figures can be seen walking away from the shrine. In the distance sails can be seen just past the marsh grasses. The area depicted in this print would become the site for Tokyo’s Haneda airport today. Poem: Over the marsh at Haneda/ Wild geese are descending/ Like a ladder from the sky (Translation by Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York)
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Two travelers walk across paths and bridges built through the marches; a small boat is hidden in the reed at the bottom center. At the turn in the path, a willow tree bisects the center of the image. In the distance, on the left-hand side, a village can be seen amongst the marsh grass. A strong wind blows through the scene, shown by the branches of the tree and the travelers struggling with their hats and cloaks.
Nishiki-e (Multicolored Print), ink and color on paper. Fishermen float on the edges of the marsh in the foreground. In the midground the roofs of buildings can be seen among towering pines. This is set against the backdrop of a dominating Fuji with clouds drifting around the base and a line of plovers fly across its face. The archive’s print features the striations at the top of Fuji rendered in blue, other versions have these striations in gray.
