Parada and Guerrero were two of the victims of the Caso Degollados triple homicide which targeted members of the political opposition in March 1985. Estela Ortiz's father, Fernando Ortiz, was also killed by Pinochet's regime, which executed 2,279 civilians and tortured 27,255 according to the Commission of Truth and Reconciliation during the military dictatorship from 1973-1990.
