Description:This project explores the unique experiences of young medical professionals from different minority communities. These interviews explore how these individuals’ identities, heritage, and backgrounds have affected their experiences in medical school and their entry into the medical field. These narratives highlight racial and ethnic barriers within the medical field and how these narrators have strived to overcome those barriers. In addition, a central topic explored in these interviews is these narrators’ perspectives on health disparities, medical mistrust, and barriers to medical treatment experienced by minority communities in the United States. This project also explores these narrators’ experiences during Covid-19 and how completing their medical training during a national pandemic has affected their perspective on medicine and their future careers.
