Letter to Dr. Davidson from John Gutteridge describing his visit to Dr. David Pingree. They discussed buildings and scholars for American University. Gutteridge writes that he had a good time discussing the university and expected to receive a "check on the spot" but Dr. Pingree said he wanted to look at the documents first and then decide his commitment to AU. Gutteridge writes that Dr. Pingree is worth a million and has no family to leave his money to. Gutteridge stresses the importance of Dr. Hamilton's influence on him. Gutteridge describes his visits with others and records the donations on the fifth page of the letter.
